Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how reten ("reten", "we", "us") — a customer-retention analytics service for local businesses, operated from India and available at reten.in — collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use our website and app. By creating an account or using reten, you agree to this policy.

1. Who this applies to

reten is a business tool. Our users are business owners and their staff ("you"). We also process data about your customers that you choose to bring into reten; for that data you are the owner/controller and reten acts as your processor (see section 5).

2. Information we collect

Account information you provide at signup: your name, email address, business name, sector and a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never see your plain password).

Business data you connect or upload to use the product: your customer records and transaction history (e.g. names, phone numbers, emails, purchase amounts and dates), whether typed in, uploaded as a file, or synced from a connected point-of-sale system.

Usage and device data: basic logs (IP address, timestamps, pages/actions) used to run and secure the service.

Payment data: if you upgrade, payments are processed by our payment provider (Razorpay). We do not store your full card details.

3. How we use your information

To provide the service — build your retention dashboard, insights and messaging tools.

To send you transactional emails triggered by your own actions: a welcome/onboarding email when you create an account, account and security notices, and replies to support requests you send us. These are not marketing emails.

To provide support, to secure and improve the product, and to comply with law.

4. Consent for our emails

We email the address you enter when you create your reten account, and only after you submit the signup form and agree to this policy and our Terms. You can contact us at info@reten.in at any time to ask us to stop non-essential emails. We do not email purchased or third-party lists.

5. Your customers' data

The customer data you bring into reten belongs to you. We use it only to provide the service to you — for example to calculate retention metrics and, at your instruction, to help you message your own customers. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to market reten to your customers.

6. How we share information

We share data only with service providers that help us run reten, under confidentiality obligations: hosting and infrastructure (Render, Neon, Cloudflare), transactional email delivery (Brevo), payments (Razorpay), and messaging channels you enable (e.g. WhatsApp/SMS via Twilio). We may disclose information if required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Data retention & security

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymise it on request. We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your account data — email info@reten.in and we'll help. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your data subject to any legal retention we must observe.

9. Data deletion

You can have your data deleted at any time, in any of these ways:

In the app: open Business settings → Profile and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account and the business & customer data associated with it.

By email: write to info@reten.in from your account email with the subject "Delete my data". We verify the request and delete your data within 30 days.

Connected WhatsApp / Meta data: if you connected a WhatsApp Business number, deleting your account (or emailing us) also removes the customer contacts, message logs and consent records reten stored for that number. Disconnecting the number stops any further processing.

We delete or irreversibly anonymise the data within 30 days of a verified request, except where we must retain limited records to meet a legal obligation. To request deletion of a specific customer's data that you brought into reten, email us and we will action it on your behalf.

10. Cookies

We use only the essential storage needed to keep you signed in and run the app. We do not use advertising trackers.

11. Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept it.

Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 August 2026

These Terms govern your use of reten ("reten", "we", "us"), a customer-retention analytics service available at reten.in. By creating an account or using reten, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

reten helps businesses understand and improve customer retention — connecting or uploading your sales/customer data to see who is lapsing, and using tools to follow up. Features and plans may change over time.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for activity under your account. You must be authorised to act for the business you register.

3. Your data and your customers' data

You retain ownership of the data you put into reten. You grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide and improve the service for you. You confirm you have the right to upload your customer data and to contact those customers through reten, and that you will comply with applicable privacy and anti-spam laws when doing so.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use reten for unlawful, misleading, or unsolicited-bulk ("spam") messaging.

Don’t upload data you have no right to use, or attempt to breach, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.

Respect the opt-outs and consent of the people you message.

5. Billing

Paid plans and add-ons are billed as described at checkout (via Razorpay). Fees are in INR unless stated. You can change or cancel your plan; unless required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable. Usage-based charges (e.g. messaging) are billed as incurred.

6. Third-party services

reten integrates with third parties you choose to connect (e.g. your POS, WhatsApp/SMS, payments). Your use of those is subject to their terms; we're not responsible for third-party services.

7. Availability & disclaimer

We work to keep reten reliable but provide it "as is", without warranties of any kind. Insights and metrics are provided to assist your decisions, not as guarantees of outcomes.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, reten is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using reten and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. On termination we delete or return your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of India.
